Mrs. Kyla Trinette Slaughter is the daughter of the Honorable Judge Carl and Dalline Brown and a native of Augusta, Georgia. Kyla is the third child of four siblings. In 1995 Kyla graduated from John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School where she concentrated in dance and piano. In May 1999 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. After graduation, Kyla obtained employment with the Georgia Department of Human Services where she worked for the past 12 years. Drawn by a sincere desire to help the less fortunate and the underserved, Kyla pursued a Master of Public Health from Mercer University School of Medicine Public Health program with a concentration on maternal and child health issues.
Her love of God is not something that Kyla treats lightly as she lives by example. Matthew 25:45 “…Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me. It is also evidenced in her work within the social services sector in Georgia as well as in the Church as the director of the Children's Ministry. Kyla’s philosophy is quite simple, each one; teach one. Using the words of George Washington Carver, “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.” Anyone who knows Kyla, knows that for her, caring for others is a way of life!
In June of 2001 Kyla met Pastor Ronald Slaughter in Augusta, Georgia while
attending college and were married two years later on September 13, 2003 at
Paine College Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel in Augusta and now
they are the proud parents of Kellyn, Kylynn and Ronald "R2".
